Softball Recap: Lakeview Has No Trouble Against Centennial

Lakeview got themselves on the board against Centennial on Thursday, but Centennial never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 8-0 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Cali Bentz made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Osten, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Finecy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Lakeview lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lakeview now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview will venture away from home to face off against Central City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will head out to take on Aurora on Tuesday.
