Basketball Recap: Sonora's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Sonora won the last time they faced Hilmar and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sonora Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over the Hilmar Yellowjackets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Among those leading the charge was Taylor Faught, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ella Kaiser, who earned ten points.

Hilmar's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Gomes, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Ava Stivers was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 14 points.

Sonora's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for Hilmar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonora will square off against Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sonora is facing Hughson at the right time seeing as Hughson is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hilmar, they will take on Orestimba at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hilmar has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
