Basketball Game Preview: Silver Valley Trojans vs. Twentynine Palms Wildcats

The Silver Valley Trojans will head out to take on the Twentynine Palms Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Silver Valley is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Hesperia Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Silver Valley came up short against Hesperia Christian, falling 47-27. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lyric White, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Durrah, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Silver Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Twentynine Palms against Indio on Thursday as the squad secured a 59-17 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Silver Valley's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Twentynine Palms, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
