Soccer Game Preview: Discovery vs. Shiloh

The Discovery Titans will face off against the Shiloh Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Discovery after they put the first goals on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Grayson who was credited with the win. The Rams got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Discovery's two. While losing is never fun, Discovery can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Grayson are ranked fifth).

Manza Masamuna and London-Sebastian Hedge scored both of Discovery's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Shiloh will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Rockdale County, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Generals narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 3-2. The game was the first time Shiloh have beaten Rockdale County on their pitch since February 10, 2015.

Discovery's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Shiloh, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Discovery took their victory against Shiloh in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 5-1 score. In that matchup, the Titans amassed a halftime lead of 5-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
