Softball Recap: North Platte Comes Up Short

North Platte and Waverly pushed the score to 12-11 the last time they played Waverly, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Bulldogs took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 12-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

North Platte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danaka Jedrzejczyk, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

North Platte's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Waverly, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Coming up, North Platte will square off against Lincoln East at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Waverly, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln North Star at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Navigators have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
