Volleyball Recap: Ignacio Comes Up Short

Ignacio and Wiggins squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Ignacio had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Maliyah Martinez paced Ignacio's offense, picking up nine kills. Martinez got some help from Kelly Sirios and her 23 assists. Sirios also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lainee Bradley, each putting up three.

Ignacio's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Wiggins, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Ignacio does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wiggins, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Vail Christian on the 14th.
