Basketball Game Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. Canyon Crest Academy Ravens

The El Camino Wildcats will challenge the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for El Camino and five for Canyon Crest Academy.

It was a proper cat-fight when El Camino faced off against Vista on Wednesday. The matchup between El Camino and Vista didn't end well, with El Camino falling 53-38.

Meanwhile, Canyon Crest Academy played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Mission Vista, falling 59-22. The Ravens were down 46-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

El Camino will need focus on slowing down Elena Colon, one of several Canyon Crest Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted five points and ten boards. Colon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played.

Canyon Crest Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for El Camino, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

El Camino won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, slipping by Canyon Crest Academy 49-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Canyon Crest Academy's Caroline Dysart, who earned 22 points. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for El Camino to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
