Two dominant backs in Fredrick 'CP' Parsons and Kelton Rogers are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The McClintock Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
McClintock is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Dobson: they outscored them in every quarter. The Chargers put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 42-22 victory on Friday. Considering the Chargers have won three games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aidan Whitaker produced another solid performance throwing for 160 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punching in one touchdown on the ground.
McClintock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for McClintock, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Parsons, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunnyslope). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Paradise Valley 59-13. With the Vikings ahead 45-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
McClintock better keep an eye on Royce Vanacore. He was instrumental in Sunnyslope's win, throwing for 126 yards and three TDs.
Sunnyslope didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Patrick Ross, Tommy Reeve, Joseph Lee, and Brendon Camp picked up one apiece. Ross got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Sunnyslope's record now sits at 7-2. As for McClintock, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
McClintock beat Sunnyslope 41-28 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Vikings' Aleck Vargas, who rushed for 120 yards, and also caught one score. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Chargers to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
