Baseball Recap: Carroll Triumphs

Carroll won against Homestead last Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bellmont Braves a 5-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won seven in a row.

Aiden Stephan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carroll is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Cooper Nichols was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Carroll's record now sits at 14-8. As for Bellmont, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-11-1 record.

Coming up, Carroll will square off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bellmont, they will challenge Jay County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
