Basketball Recap: Minden Starts Season with Win at Home

Minden gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-38 win over the Southern Valley Eagles. The Whippets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Myla Emery had a dynamite game, going 8-for-19 on her way to 22 points and six steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ruby Rhynalds, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Southern Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Emercen Lovitt and Tori Bose. Lovitt shot 53% from the field to rack up 22 points and six boards, while Bose dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Minden didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-20 defeat against Ogallala on the 6th. As for Southern Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-39 loss against Elm Creek on the 5th.
