Basketball Recap: San Juan Hills Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but San Juan Hills had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-50 win over the San Dimas Saints. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Saints are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anna Shreeve continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Adelyn Boberg was another key player, going 7-for-16 to rack up 20 points.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Verdines-O'Cain, who went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points. Verdines-O'Cain is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Priscilla Romero, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

San Juan Hills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for San Dimas, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-9.

San Juan Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-56 victory against Diamond Bar on the 15th. San Dimas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
