Softball Recap: Rejoice Christian Takes a Loss

Rejoice Christian had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-13 to make it nine. They came up short against the Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in August.

As for Chouteau-Mazie, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Chouteau-Mazie's part, Rylee Detweiler made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Detweiler was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Chouteau-Mazie got a big performance out of Kinzly Ellison, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Ellison has posted over her last 12 matchups. Shaelea Willerton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Rejoice Christian has already played their next game, a 7-4 win against Bluejacket on the 19th. Chouteau-Mazie has also already played their next contest (against Ketchum), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
