Football Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 24-7 bruising from the O'Connor Panthers. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 31-24 to the Panthers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Chase Chapa threw for 49 yards on seven of 18 attempts. Davian Garcia was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards.

Leading O'Connor to victory were Jake Garza and Wyatt McKenzie. Garza rushed for 39 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while McKenzie rushed for 105 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Garza a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for O'Connor, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, Marshall and O'Connor will both be playing Holmes the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
