Softball Recap: Cross Creek Wins Going Away Against Westside

Cross Creek's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Westside Patriots with a sharp 20-0 victory. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Razorbacks this season.

Paityn Oglesby made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Cross Creek got a massive performance out of Brylyn Dressel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Dressel has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddison Robertson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Cross Creek's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Westside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cross Creek is set to face off against their familiar foe Hephzibah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Westside will take on rival West Laurens at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
