Baseball Recap: Lyons Takes a Loss

Lyons and Downers Grove North pushed the score to 14-12 the last time they played Downers Grove North, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Lions fell 4-0 to the Trojans. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Lyons and nudges their season record down to 19-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 18-9 Hinsdale Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.1% over those games). As for Downers Grove North, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Lyons will challenge Hinsdale Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Downers Grove North will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' contest: after the Lions face off against Willowbrook, they'll take on Downers Grove North again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
