Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Minersville). They were the clear victor by a 64-39 margin over the Tri-Valley Bulldogs on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Battlin' Miners in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Tri-Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Artz, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Artz has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Miller, who posted 19 points and five boards.

Minersville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. As for Tri-Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Minersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tri-Valley, they will head out to square off against Upper Dauphin Area at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Upper Dauphin Area has four straight wins, Tri-Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
