Football Game Preview: Mountainside Wolves vs. Highland Prep West HORNETS

The Mountainside Wolves will host the Highland Prep West HORNETS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Mountainside's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over Highland Prep. Considering the Wolves have won three contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mountainside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Clayton Brown out in front who rushed for 97 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Brown has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Daniel Gregg helped out on the ground, rushing for 97 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountainside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Mountainside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyler Fry and Gregg.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland Prep West). They blew past San Pasqual Valley 61-41 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the HORNETS as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Highland Prep West's record is now 4-6. As for Mountainside, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
