The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will take on the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Even though Schuylkill Haven has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Schuylkill Haven blew past the Bulldogs 56-32. Given Schuylkill Haven's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 648th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mckenna Runkle and Audrey Hutchinson were among the main playmakers for Schuylkill Haven as the former scored 13 points and the latter scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Haag, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Minersville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 85-12 win over Weatherly at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Minersville has managed all season.
Schuylkill Haven's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Minersville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
