Lafayette Central Catholic extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They fell 34-27 to the West Lafayette Red Devils. On the bright side, the 27- point performance marked the Knights' highest-scoring contest to date.

When it comes to explaining why Lafayette Central Catholic lost, don't look at Mason Meister. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 61 receiving yards. Ethan Miller was in the mix as well, providing the Knights with one TD.

As for West Lafayette, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games.

It was another big night for Kojo Steffey, who rushed for 195 yards and three scores, and also picked up 38 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 113.4 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Fielder Melchi, who picked up 153 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Lafayette Central Catholic and West Lafayette will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights will square off against rival Rensselaer Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, West Lafayette is set to challenge their familiar foe Western at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
