Soccer Game Preview: Franklin vs. Stagg

Franklin hasn't had much luck against Stagg recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Franklin Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Stagg Delta Kings at 7:00 p.m. Franklin will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last.

Stagg better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Franklin really get things going. Franklin's defense stepped up to hand Chavez a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Janelli Villagran was the driving force of Franklin's attack as she scored all five of Franklin's goals, bringing her season total up to 33 goals.

Meanwhile, Stagg fell victim to Edison and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Vikings. The Delta Kings haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Franklin pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Stagg, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Everything went Franklin's way against Stagg when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Franklin made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
