Soccer Game Preview: Branson vs. Sonoma Academy

The Branson Bulls will square off against the Sonoma Academy Coyotes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Branson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against San Rafael as Branson made off with a 7-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulls needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Their offense was hitting San Rafael from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Julia Myerberg led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Sonoma Academy came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Knights 5-0. Give the Coyotes' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Branson's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Sonoma Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season.
