Softball Game Preview: Adairsville Tigers vs. Northwest Whitfield Bruins

Adairsville is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Northwest Whitfield Bruins at 5:00 p.m. Adairsville will be strutting in after a victory while Northwest Whitfield will be coming in after a loss.

Adairsville's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Walker.

Ashlyn Carlton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Carlton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Durden was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lillianne Gunter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Northwest Whitfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, falling 9-3.

Northwest Whitfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Adairsville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Adairsville skirted past Northwest Whitfield 2-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
