Basketball Recap: Franklin County Takes a Loss

Franklin County was the 59-48 winner over Community Leadership Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin County Seahawks took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Community Leadership Academy Lions on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Franklin County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sadiq Jones almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Jones has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jay Webster also deserves some recognition as he scored his first point of the season.

Even though they lost, Franklin County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Community Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Ivarson led the charge by going 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Bowman Holloway was another key player, going 6 of 13 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Community Leadership Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Franklin County has already played their next game (against Liberty County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Community Leadership Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Community Christian.
