Softball Recap: Johns Creek Takes a Loss

Johns Creek had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Lanier Longhorns by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Gladiators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Johns Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Uma Pittman, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

As for Lanier, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-7. The win was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

On Lanier's side, Anisha Daniel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 6.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sanai Hampton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Carol Rubio-Hurtado was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Johns Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-2 defeat against Roswell on the 2nd. As for Lanier, they have also already played their next contest, an 18-1 victory against Gainesville on the 2nd.
