Baseball Recap: Brantley County's Losing Streak Snapped at 15 Games

Brantley County had to endure a 15-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Berrien Rebels on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Herons also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2019.

Brody Howell and Gaven Grafford were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Howell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Grafford tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Howell has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Howell scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Grafford scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clark Carter, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Coger, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Brantley County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Berrien, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Coming up, Brantley County will welcome Tattnall County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Berrien, they will head out on the road to face off against Brantley County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
