Softball Recap: Kearney's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Kearney dropped down to 20-10 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 11-8 to the Hastings Tigers. The Bearcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Alexa Jacobsen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Hastings, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

On Hastings' side, BROOKE OCHSNER was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs OCHSNER has posted since September 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of EMILY KRATZER, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Kearney will face off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Discoverers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.73 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hastings, they will take on Waverly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
