It was fun while it lasted, but Johnstown Christian's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They fell to the Ferndale Yellow Jackets 46-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bluejays came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 425th).

Ferndale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deajah Chatman, who posted 14 points and three blocks. Finni Mason was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six boards and six steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Johnstown Christian fell to 8-1. As for Ferndale, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnstown Christian will face off against Centre County Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Johnstown Christian's defense has only allowed 23.6 points per game this season, so Centre County Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Ferndale, they will challenge Fort Hill at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
