Football Recap: Austin Maroons vs. Westlake Chaparrals
Austin played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Westlake Chaparrals and fell 58-14. The Maroons have struggled against the Chaparrals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Although Austin took the loss, they still got scores from Brady Ford and Jaxson Taylor.
Leading Westlake to victory were Rees Wise and Jarren Lopez. Wise threw for 255 yards and one touchdown on only 15 passes, while Lopez rushed for 33 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most passing yards Wise has posted since back in November of 2024.
Austin's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Westlake, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
