Thornton Academy is 8-2 against Gorham since June of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans will face off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a eight-game winning streak alive.
Thornton Academy proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Bonny Eagle 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Scots since May 11, 2019.

Cameron Kirby looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Noah Fullerton was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gorham). They put the hurt on Westbrook with a sharp 14-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Rams have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Wyatt Washburn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Washburn was also stellar in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and four stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izak Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since May 1st. Hunter Finck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Gorham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westbrook only posted a batting average of .125.
Thornton Academy's record is now 10-2. As for Gorham, their record now sits at 12-2-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thornton Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Gorham struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thornton Academy skirted past Gorham 4-3 in their previous meeting back in June of 2025. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
