Softball Recap: St. Paul Beats Boone Central for Their Third Straight Win

St. Paul came out on top against Boone Central on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 10-9. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests in a row.

Addy Wegner made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, St. Paul let Kamden Sack and Annie Stepanek run wild. Sack went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Stepanek went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Sack a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audra Dugan, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

St. Paul now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Boone Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

St. Paul has already played their next match, a 9-3 win against Tekamah-Herman on the 20th. As for Boone Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Ord at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
