Soccer Game Preview: Rio Mesa vs. Ventura

The Rio Mesa Spartans will face off against the Ventura Cougars at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Rio Mesa is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They and Santa Barbara finished up their game with a 2-2 draw on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans as the team haven't won a game since December 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ventura kept a clean sheet against Pacifica on Monday. They blew past the Tritons 3-0. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly three goals.

Ventura has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four contests. Rio Mesa's draw gives them a new season record of 1-8-4.
