Soccer Game Preview: Carlsbad vs. Mt. Carmel

The Carlsbad Lancers will face off against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carlsbad is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mission Hills on Tuesday. Carlsbad fell just short of Mission Hills by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel kept a clean sheet against Rancho Bernardo on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Broncos as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Sundevils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Mt. Carmel's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Carlsbad, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-2.
