Basketball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were dealt a 54-24 loss at the hands of the Mansfield Tigers. The Redskins lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 32-24 score last time.

Liz Hunter and Reghan McGaughey certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hunter went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points and three steals, while McGaughey posted two points. Hunter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Mansfield, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Sayre will head out to challenge Galeton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mansfield, they will host Williamson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
