Preview: Goose Creek Gators vs. Cane Bay Cobras
The Goose Creek Gators's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cane Bay Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Goose Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Stratford scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Goose Creek still came out on top. Goose Creek walked away with a 71-58 victory over Stratford.
Shane Potts was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Quell Brown, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Cane Bay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past Berkeley 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Cane Bay has posted since December 30, 2023.
Isaac Smalls continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Curtrell Dixon, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Goose Creek now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Cane Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Goose Creek came up short against Cane Bay in their previous matchup last Tuesday, falling 61-54. Can Goose Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
