Texas high school football: Ponder junior Mitchell Nuziard leads state receiving yardage leaders

According statistics to submitted to MaxPreps, three wide receivers in Texas are over 800 yards this season, led by state leader Mitchell Nuziard of Ponder.

Nuziard caught five balls last week for 64 yards to run his season totals to 46 catches for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns. During the Lion's 3-2 start to the season, Nuziard, chalked up at least 118 yards receiving four times. The junior's 2022 resume includes a 12-catch, 322-yard outing that netted a pair of scores in a 64-54 loss to Godley Sept. 16.

Ja'Ryan Wallace of Braswell (Little Elm) sits No. 2 this week after netting 809 yards receiving in six contests. Last weekend the 6-foot-4 senior with 14 FBS offers reeled in nine passes for a season-high 243 yards and a pair of scores in a 60-51 loss to McKinney.

In his last outing, Casey Hasse of DasCHE (Cedar Hill) caught just two balls but netted 156 yards receiving and a score to run his season totals to 804 yards and 10 touchdowns on 23 catches to claim the No. 3 slot.
