Baseball Recap: Oregon-Davis Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Oregon-Davis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the South Shore Homeschool Athletics Eagles 11-2.

Brady Danford and Nathan Cooke made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Danford tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cooke didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Danford also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oregon-Davis is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-14 otherwise. At bat, Danford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Cooke went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Cooke a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bayze Swanson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Oregon-Davis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Oregon-Davis' victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for South Shore Homeschool Athletics, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oregon-Davis will face off against LaVille at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Shore Homeschool Athletics, they will square off against Elkhart Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elkhart Christian Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something South Shore Homeschool Athletics will no doubt try to take advantage of.
