Soccer Recap: Mather Comes Up Short

Mather was the 4-2 winner over Chicago Academy when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangers fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Mather can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Chicago Academy are ranked 45th).

Mather is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-2. As for Chicago Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mather will take on Senn at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chicago Academy, they will square off against Westinghouse at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
