Soccer Game Preview: Vaughn vs. Golden Valley

The Vaughn White Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Golden Valley Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Vaughn managed to keep up with Van Nuys until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Vaughn lost 3-0 to Van Nuys. While losing is never fun, the White Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 868th, while Wolves are ranked 329th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Golden Valley made sure to put some goals up on the board against Fulton on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Jaguars an 8-0 shutout. Aubrey Esqueda was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Golden Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five matchups. As for Vaughn, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6-1.
