Soccer Game Preview: Westover vs. Cairo

Westover is 0-10 against Cairo since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Westover Patriots will take on the Cairo Syrupmakers at 7:30 p.m. Westover has given up an average of 5.2 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Westover is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They took a 5-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cook on Tuesday. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Cairo made sure to put some goals up on the board against Sherwood Christian Academy on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Syrupmakers, who have now won three contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Cairo's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Westover, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Westover might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Cairo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Westover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
