Football Recap: Micah Thompson and Brayden Strand Secure Win for Moose Lake/Willow River

After losing to Barnum the last time they met, Moose Lake/Willow River decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rebels took down the Bombers 21-7 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rebels.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Brayden Strand and Micah Thompson. Strand rushed for 99 yards and one score on only 14 carries while Thompson rushed for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Thompson posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Moose Lake/Willow River didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Barnum to a completion percentage of just 43.8%. The Rebels weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Moose Lake/Willow River's record is now 2-0. As for Barnum, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moose Lake/Willow River will face off against Aitkin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Barnum, they will square off against Braham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
