Newark Central faced West Orange in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' defense stepped up to hand the Mountaineers a 6-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

A big part of Newark Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Taylor Jones and her top target Serenity Muhammad. Jones rushed for 139 yards on only 11 carries while Muhammad picked up 49 receiving yards and one score. Muhammad was even better on defense, defending five passes and snagged an interception.

Newark Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Matenin Camara led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by herself.

Newark Central pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for West Orange, they moved to 7-2-1 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Newark Central nor the Mountaineers have any future games scheduled.
