Basketball Game Preview: MAST Community Charter Panthers vs. New Foundations

MAST Community Charter hasn't had much luck against New Foundations recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The MAST Community Charter Panthers will head out to challenge New Foundations at 4:00 p.m. MAST Community Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

MAST Community Charter is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Morrisville: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that MAST Community Charter blew Morrisville out of the water with a 55-9 final score. That looming 55-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

MAST Community Charter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tierney Hamilton, who went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points and six steals, and Lauren Sweeney, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Sweeney also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylie Fitzsimmons, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

MAST Community Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, New Foundations got the win against Kohelet Yeshiva last Tuesday by a conclusive 53-32. Given New Foundations' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Kohelet Yeshiva is ranked 616th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

MAST Community Charter is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.4 points per game. As for New Foundations, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

MAST Community Charter came up short against New Foundations in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 50-42. Can MAST Community Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
