Recap: Tamaqua Blue Raiders vs. Minersville Battlin' Miners
After flying high against the Jim Thorpe Olympians last Thursday, the Tamaqua Blue Raiders came back down to earth. Tamaqua was the victim of a rough 64-39 defeat at the hands of Minersville on Saturday. Tamaqua was down 48-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
When it comes to explaining why Tamaqua lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kolbe Robb. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robb has scored all season. Makayla Bartenope was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Tamaqua's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Minersville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Tamaqua will head out on the road to take on Pine Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Minersville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Weatherly at 6:00 p.m. Weatherly is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
