Basketball Recap: Canyon Springs Takes a Loss

If Canyon Springs was feeling good fresh off their 49-21 takedown of JW North last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Canyon Springs Cougars fell to the Tahquitz Titans 44-40. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 53-29.

Despite the loss, Canyon Springs still got an impressive performance from Kaleayah Marshall, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Marshall has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rosalinda Aparicio, who posted seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Canyon Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 34 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Canyon Springs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-3 record this season. As for Tahquitz, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
