It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Saxony Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the DeSoto Dragons 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted since October 10, 2024.

Madilynn Hager spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Brown, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ansley Palisch, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Saxony Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for DeSoto, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Saxony Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for DeSoto, they will challenge Fox at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
