Basketball Recap: Farmersville Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Farmersville can now relate to. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Corcoran Panthers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Farmersville still got an impressive performance from Janessa Garza, who posted 22 points and six rebounds. That was a full 53.7% of Farmersville's points, marking the third time in a row Garza has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Juarez, who put up six points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Kaelynn Castillo went supernova for Corcoran, going 10-for-18 to rack up 25 points. Those 25 points gave Castillo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Luna, who had six points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Farmersville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Corcoran, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-12 record this season.

Farmersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Corcoran, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-47 loss against Lindsay on the 20th.
