Soccer Game Preview: Rio Linda vs. Dixon

Rio Linda hasn't had much luck against Dixon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rio Linda Knights will head out to face off against the Dixon Rams at 6:00 p.m. Rio Linda's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Rio Linda got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sutter 2-1. The win was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 839th, while the Huskies are ranked 402nd).

Viviana Lopez was the driving force of Rio Linda's attack as she scored both of Rio Linda's goals, bringing her season total up to eight goals.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Dixon was forced to settle for a draw on Saturday. They and Wood finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

With that draw, Dixon's record moves to 2-6-2. As for Rio Linda, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7-3.

Rio Linda suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Dixon in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Rio Linda avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
