Football Recap: Hillcrest Patriots vs. Prattville Lions
Hillcrest fought the good fight in their overtime game against Prattville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Hillcrest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jordan Shambley, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 63 yards and one TD. Kahden Smith was Shambley's top target, picking up 152 receiving yards and one score.
Tristin Blackmon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Prattville, rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Blackmon has posted since back in August of 2024. Deshawn Hall also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Hillcrest and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Thompson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.8% over those games). As for Prattville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
