Recap: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Harvard-Westlake Wolverines
The Leuzinger Olympians won the last time they faced the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines, and things went their way on Friday too. Leuzinger strolled past Harvard-Westlake with points to spare, taking the game 67-49. Given Leuzinger's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Harvard-Westlake is ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leuzinger's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dresha Moore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least 25% of Leuzinger's points. Another player making a difference was Leah Sarabia, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Despite the loss, Harvard-Westlake still got an impressive performance from Deana Thompson, who scored 16 points. The contest was Thompson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Valentina Guerrero was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Leuzinger's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Harvard-Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Leuzinger will be playing at home against North at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Harvard-Westlake will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Centennial at 12:00 p.m. on November 25th.
