Football Recap: Alief Elsik Comes Up Short

Alief Elsik extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by the Iowa Colony Pioneers and fell 59-14. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while the Pioneers are ranked 98th).

As for Iowa Colony, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.7 points on average this season.

Leading Iowa Colony to victory were Carson White and Aaron Tenner. White rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Tenner rushed for 171 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. White is also crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Warren, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Coming up, Alief Elsik is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Iowa Colony, they will welcome Lee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Pioneers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
